This year we celebrate 25 years of animal rescue at Leavenheath, culminating (big word for a little dog!) in our Open Day and Fun Dog Show at the end of July.
And my goodness, what a lovely day we had! Lots of people came to see the animals awaiting new homes, browse the games and stalls or show off their pets in the Fun Dog Show. Ex SESAW dogs returned with their owners to show us how well they were doing and the magnificent sum of £4650 was raised.
Darrell from Gladwell & Son came to help dispense the rosettes his company kindly sponsored and pupils from Bentley and Copdock Primary Schools who won the Art Competition came to collect their prizes. Everyone was completely shattered but very happy by the end of the day. The icing on the cake is that several dogs were rehomed as a result of the event.
Grateful thanks go to all who supported SESAW and to the hard working volunteers who made it all happen. The money raised will help care for many residents at SESAW including a newly arrived pair of Kune Kune pigs. Although their owner died, Peggy and Bob settled quickly, in time to meet the Open Day visitors.
By the way, did I tell you what a lovely welcome we received at our Summer Fair in June. Lorraine and her helpers organized the day at St. Lukes Church Hall, Tiptree which raised £693 for the animals at SESAW. Lots of visitors came (to see me modeling my new jewellery range no doubt?) and and we hope to meet then again, same place for Lorraine’s Quiz Night on Saturday 7th October, 7-10pm. Just time to tell you about our next fundraising events starting with the Autumn Sale, 11-3pm Sunday 17th September at Gt. Bentley Village Hall CO7 8LG. Next is our Barking Basement Weekend Sale 10-1pm 23/24th September at SESAW. There will be everything from curtains to cameras, bags to books, toys to trousers so bag a bargain, 10-1pm on Saturday and Sunday 23rd and 24th September. Hope to see you there. We finish the year with a £1 Sale 11-2pm Saturday 14th October at the Ansell Centre, Hadleigh Suffolk IP7 5DL and our Christmas Fair 10-3pm Sunday 19th November at the Old School Long Melford CO10 9DX.
The days are beginning to grow shorter so it’s time for my evening trot around the garden before dinner. Soon all the animals will be tucked up safe and sound, including me, Kenny (the Boss) Chihuahua.
