Last week Mum started giving us dinner an hour earlier than usual because the clock went back.   I don’t know what was wrong with it but it must be catching because all the volunteers also lost an hour.   Although we don’t worry about time, we animals are affected by the shorter, colder days and appreciate a quieter life in the winter.   SESAW is therefore now open Saturdays and Sundays only, between 10am and 1pm.   Visitors are welcome at other times by appointment, please leave a message on 01787 210888 and someone will call back.

The humans are rushed off their feet caring for all the animals including a litter of Romanian puppies that could be homed prior to the festive season IF they have time to settle in beforehand.   Mum says they are NOT Christmas presents and will be with you for up to fifteen years so please bear this in mind when considering a new canine or feline addition to your family.   Bertie, on the other paw, is a senior Jack Russell discovered with another dog in a house about to be boarded up by bailiffs.   He tells me he is lonely since his companion was re-homed and craves human company.   I’d better mention the black and white kittens too.   They are smaller than me and nearly as cute.

My friend, Barbara, was delighted with the £543 result of her table sale at Stratford St. Mary on 11th October including a £200 donation from a SESAW supporter.

People came from far and wide the next day to attend another sale at Long Melford.  Fifty tables at The Old School overflowed with bargains and over £2000 was raised which made all the hard work worthwhile.   Thank you to everyone who supported these events, the money will go towards keeping the animals warm, dry and well fed over the winter.

Our long awaited Quiz Supper Night has just been booked for Wednesday 19th November at the “Shoulder of Mutton”, The Street, Assington, CO10 5LJ.   Please phone 01206 799424 to book your tickets.   The fundraising team are busy with final preparations for our Christmas Fair at Leavenheath Village Hall on Sunday 23rd November, 12-3pm.   I’ve already pinched a few baubles and as it has caused so much trouble, I think Mum’s watch will also have to be hidden away by me, (Kenny the Boss) Chihuahua.

P.S. I’m happy to tell you that Bertie has now gone to his retirement home, and the Romanian puppies have now all found homes too!
